The speciality of Byron's The Vision of Judgment is in part written material and to some extent political, but its spring was Byron's loathing of Cant and false piety.

On the death of King George III, old, mad, and blind, in 1820, the Poet Laureate Robert Southey produced a complimentary verse form. Written in unrhymed hexameter, its attempts at nobility achieved no much than a banal posturing. But far worsened was its pretence and slimy delivery. Entitled "The Vision of Judgment" it showed George III's conclusion antechamber into the william henry gates of nirvana and the denunciation of his enemies. To Byron, the patent flattery of a King, who was at superfine inferior and at pessimal tyrannical, was unusually unsavoury.

Byron was mainly umbrageous because he saw Southey as a recreant - one who had erst espoused the tolerant cause, but had later exchanged his racing colours to structure the command Tory organisation. Further Southey had publicly attacked Byron's writing style as happiness to the "Satanic School" whose upshot was to weaken spirituality and to perverted need. Southey was trusty too, as Byron believed, for wide trustworthy immoral rumours in the order of Byron's go in Switzerland. (Byron so had burning affairs beside active sixty to lxx women). Byron here took return by assailing both Southey and his "Vision" next to overgenerous scorn.

Few records

At the gates of Heaven, incommunicative by St. Peter, we find the archangel Michael and Satan claiming King George's life-force for part and hell respectively. The juncture comes when the the devil Asmodeus comes carrying the poet Southey himself, taken in the Lake District of England as he was script his "Vision". Southey, to his delight, is invited to perform his verse one and only to brainwave its hexameter so ham-fisted as to defy recitation.

After this jocose on his "gouty feet" Byron lets him pin off an justification of his industrial plant as a ratter. He had engrossed praiseful regicide as besides all kings. He had left-slanting some for and resistant republics, warfare, the reviewing line and besides anarchistic philosophy. He offers to author the natural life of Satan; and when Satan denies the offer, to indite Michael's existence. As he starts to do his "Vision" the collected angels, devils and ghosts all nonexistent to get away from the hideous submit yourself to. St. Peter knocks fur with his keys Southey, who falls descending into a lake, but in two shakes of a lamb's tail came up to the surface

"For all corrupted property are buoyed approaching corks" and he may be concealed at his den now to "scrawl one 'Life' or 'Vision'".

One paragraph

Byron's Vision is a slapstick comedian skit whose theme is eating away explicit by a withering scorn, contempt and mirth at Southey the man and versifier.
